A real diamond has no colour – just colourless and pure like a drop of water. To ensure the grading of diamond on colour hues, we use our diamond colour evaluation metric. This colour evaluation metric is designed to measure the degree of colourlessness by examining the stone under controlled lighting and precise conditions.
However, many of these colour distinctions are so subtle and negligible that they are invisible to the untrained eye; however, these distinctions make a very big difference in diamond grading and price.
Diamonds not falling under this normal range of white, are probably fancy coloured diamonds created in lab. Coloured diamonds of blue, pink, red, and sometimes even dark yellow and intense brown come under the lab grown diamonds.
Geological Institute of India has approved its Colour Grading Scale from Indian and International standards with a clarity and world-wide acceptance.
